Target Zero

On the simplest level, at APComPower when we talk about “Target Zero”, it is a reference to our goal for each project, which is a safe workplace without personal injury.  “Target Zero” is a succinct version of our Safety Mission Statement.  “Target Zero” is the embodiment of our safety culture and the culmination of our guiding principles for safety which are:

  • No injury, illness, or damage to property or the environment is acceptable.
  • The site owner, APComPower, our subcontractors, and our employees must work together to prevent any injury, illness, or damage.
  • “Zero Incidents” is the only justifiable goal.

On another level, “Target Zero” describes our commitment to our employees and our customers.  We as an employer have a legal obligation and an ethical responsibility to protect them and their property from harm.

Target Zero is a reflection of the integration of our Safety Program, site-specific safety plans, and management leadership.

Target Zero is a product of the passionate commitment and participation of the entire organization - a team where every person, from top management to the newest employee, embraces their responsibility and is accountable to participate and promote a safe project.

Target Zero is a philosophy that APComPower follows on a daily basis and integrates into every work practice.  It is a philosophy that succeeds when all management and employees:

  • act as an example
  • talk about the “Target Zero” philosophy and maintain high environment, health, and safety visibility
  • implement site safety plans consistent with our EH&S policies but customized to address the specific issues of each worksite.
  • monitor the effectiveness of our safety plans and enforce them
  • use Advanced Eye Protection (AEP) to prevent our industry’s most frequent injury
  • promote an atmosphere that encourages continuous improvement by using proactive safety approaches such as the Hazard/Near Miss Observation Program

Target Zero is the emblem of our journey to provide an injury and incident free workplace that will make APComPower the preferred contractor for our customers in the power generation industry and the preferred employer for Building and Construction trades workers in the United States.
